The 2009 Budget announced that landfill tax is set to rise by £8 per tonne at least until April 2013. That is a net increase of around 20% per year, which means that if you were paying £50,000 for waste removal in 2009 you could be paying around £105,000 in 2013 for the same service.

We simply have to stop throwing things away and, instead, find alternative recyclable products and sustainable methods of production. We encourage, advise and educate our customers how to do this with their signs, graphics and other aspects of their event branding. We believe that diverting your waste away from landfill will not only benefit the environment, it will also benefit you both financially and, as part of your social responsibility policy, make your event sustainable.
Octink is the first UK signage and display specialist to offer its customers a complete recycling process: we have called this Octink R3. We really do recover, recycle and reuse!
We use the latest solvent-free latex inkjet printers to print onto a wide range of recycled and recyclable products. We continue to develop our closed loop product range where your signage is collected and recycled into blank sign making materials, ready for the next project.
While closed loop recycling remains the Holy Grail of sustainable good practice, whenever we can, we use recycled or recyclable products as alternatives to traditional, more environmentally-damaging products. For example, we now use LED lighting over neon and use wheat banners or Oleflex as a eco-friendly replacement for PVC.
We try very hard to ensure that even products that can’t be recycled get reused. For example Dibond, an aluminium/plastic composite, is ground into pellets and reused in low grade aluminium products while PVC banners are turned into protective matting for children’s play areas.
We manage the delivery and removal of signage and other materials to and from events and exhibitions. We even audit our customers’ waste reclamation and recycling for their projects and produce detailed reports for them.
We aim to reduce landfill and cut material wastage wherever we can. You can read more about Octink’s environmental policies here or download product sheets of all our recyclable products.
