Commisioned by Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council, Octink supplied and installed a complete directory and way-finding scheme for the Pant Industrial Estate, a busy trading hub off the Heads of the Valley Road that employs over 700 people.
Throughout a strenuous tendering process, product innovation and the ability to design a clear and co-dinated way-finding signage scheme, making the estate more accessible to customers and workers alike was key. Constant consultation with the Merthyr Planning and Highways department was required to develop the scheme based around a coloured zoning system supported by a series of pole mounted signs and directories in the right places.
Locally sourced Blue Pennant dry stone walling was specified for the main entrance signs, each hand built by local skilled tradesmen. In addition all the metal way-finding signage and directories were manufactured using our own OctiFinish coating, a new way of making any sign graffiti proof. The result is that any solvent paint or permanent marker can easily be wiped off the surface of the sign leaving it looking as good as new.
Merthyr Tydfil Borough CouncilThe Pant Industrial Estate signage and way-finding scheme turned out to be an ongoing and evolutionary experience and moved quite a way from the original concept to eventual implementation. Despite that the staff at Octink were professional, flexible and accommodating and their input was instrumental in achieving the attractive, innovative and successful scheme we have today.
