Octink has won its first major contract with Slough Borough Council to provide printed advertising hoardings as part of the Heart of Slough project. Heart of Slough is the £450 million regeneration of the centre of Slough, under a joint venture between Slough Borough Council, the Homes and Communities Agency and Development Securities. 29 acres of the town centre, between the railway station and main shopping centre, are being redeveloped. A new road layout will be introduced together with a tree-lined boulevard that will provide pedestrian friendly routes. In addition to new homes and offices, there will be a brand new bus station and a new community space that will house Slough’s main library. Work is due to be completed in 2012.
The project was formally launched in March, when construction work began on the new bus station. Octink has provided 188 metres of advertising hoardings surrounding the construction site, which display messages and images to inform and inspire local people with the vision for the site. In keeping with Octink’s green credentials, the advertising hoardings have been made of materials suitable for recycling. Octink hopes to continue working with Slough Borough Council, as future requirements for hoardings are identified.
